You can learn a lot from a person’s playlist

I am not musically gifted…I cannot sing, I cannot play any instruments, I cannot even hum a tune–BUT music is part of who I am and is woven into everything I do. I can’t imagine going a day without it.

I already shared with you some of my favorite music the post 25 random facts . The type of music I listen to varies depending on the day and depending on the activity. For example…

  • Riding in the car with the grand babies…Let it Go, Barney, Raffi, Kid’s Bop, Mickey Mouse…
  • At Zumba…Reggaeton, Cumbia, Bollywood, Salsa, Soca, Merengue, Latin Dance…
  • Cooking dinner…Various Pandora stations–Adele, Ed Sheeran, Justin Bieber, Ice Cube, Bob Marley, Summer Hits of the 90s
  • Making art…More Pandora stations–Fleetwood Mac, The Doors, P Square, Straight Outta Compton
  • Rolling solo in the car…Old School Hip-Hop, Tupac, Eazy-E…

There are no rules about what I listen to and when I listen to it, just general trends. The only non-negotiable–I CANNOT drive in the car in silence. Music to me is a comfort, an inspiration, a motivator, a distraction, a memory, a reason to dance, a reason to laugh, a reason to celebrate, and sometimes a reason to cry.

Because I really do believe you can learn a lot about a person based on their music, I thought hit shuffle on my iPod, share the first 20 songs that came up,  and teach you a bit more about me.

  1. Like I’m Gonna Lose You–Meghan Trainor ft. John Legend
  2. Tomorrow Robins Will Sing–Stevie Wonder

  17. Quiet Storm–Mobb Deep

Music is everywhere…it spans all time and it spans all people. It is magical, powerful, and beautiful and I LOVE it.

“I think music in itself is healing. It’s an explosive expression of humanity. It is something we are all touched by. No matter what culture we’re from, everyone loves music.”–Billy Joel

So….please tell me, what does music mean to you?

And yes, go ahead, hit shuffle and share….what are your top songs?

  1. I’m a
Number 8 and 20 kinda girl! ? A lot of times music makes me sad. I don’t even know why exactly. I love me some good Busta but I also like silence. ?

    1. Music makes me sad sometimes too. And I like to listen to it when I’m sad but then I bust out some Me Against the World and everything’s all better lol

  2. We love music! All kinds. My boys would say, just no county. I even listen to that sometimes. I think my boys will go to about 8 concerts this month. Taylor just wrote a college paper on music. We are constantly buying Brayden head phones because he wares them out. Kirk has a whole time line of songs for his life. He can tell you when and where he was when he heard it. I love Brian Adams, John Mayor, Maroon Five, Nickel Back, Adele, Tim Mcgraw, James Taylor, but my favorite band is any band that Brayden is playing the drums in.

    1. I guess I didn’t realize how musically talented all the boys were. I remember me and Kirk going back and forth with song lyrics lol. I love James Taylor too!
